How To Get Good Quality Sleep

Hi friends! Let's chat sleep. I am a stickler when it comes to my sleep. I REFUSE to get less than 6.5 hours a night but I typically get between 7 and 8 hours. And I do what I can to make sure that the sleep that I get is GOOD quality sleep.

People often ask me how I manage to get so much done in a day. I genuinely think that a big part of that is making sure that I get enough sleep. I have a little nighttime routine that helps me get the best sleep I can possibly get!

ONE. SLEEPY ROLLER

If you follow me over on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have really upped my essential oil game. I've been dabbling in oils for like 6 months and I'm so impressed with the improved quality of life that has followed. Especially when it comes to my sleep!

I roll my sleepy blend on the bottoms of my feet, my wrists, and my neck before dozing off every night. And y'all - let me tell you a story. I went a few months without doing this to see how it affected me. I slept like garbage. As SOON as I started using my roller again, I slept through the night and even had dreams. GAME. CHANGER.

What's in my roller?

  • 10 drops of lavender

  • 10 drops of cedarwood

  • 5 drops of frankincense

  • Filled with fractioned coconut oil

TWO. STRETCH + MEDITATE

This is a newer part of my nighttime routine and it has made SUCH a positive difference! I spend 10-15 minutes stretching and a few minutes meditating just to kind of wind down. I've found that doing this helps to settle my mind, so that I'm not jumping into bed with my brain still going a million miles per minute. I just do basic, simple stretches that feel good to my body.

THREE. SET THE MOOD

I am ALLLLL about vibes. Like setting the tone for anything is my jam. If I'm working all day in my office I have to spend a few minutes beforehand prepping my space. And it's the same for going to bed. I spend a few minutes setting the mood. I wash my face + brush my teeth and pick out a cute set of PJs. Roll my oils on. Then I make sure to check my phone one last time (I try to stay OFF of it once I am in bed) and plug it in (along with my Apple watch). I turn the main lights out and turn my side table lamp on. I read for 5ish minutes (an actual book not on an iPad or anything) then out goes the side table lamp and I'm off to catch some zzz's.
