If you’re feeling a little meh about your goals or just want to make sure you’re on track—this post is for you!

One of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to goal setting? Waiting until the end of the year to check in with themselves.

Life isn’t static—our seasons change, our priorities shift, and our goals need to evolve with us. That’s why I swear by Quarterly Check-In Meetings as part of The Hustle Sanely Planning System!

A Quarterly Check-In Meeting helps you:

  • Assess your yearly goals and make sure they still align with your season

  • Reflect on what’s working (and what’s not) in different areas of your life

  • Set intentional Focus Goals for the next three months

  • Create margin to pivot and make adjustments before you get to December feeling stuck

In this post, I’m walking you through my exact process for my Q2 Check-In Meeting, so you can do the same!

Step 01: Assess Your Yearly Goals

First things first—I grab my Peacefully Productive Planner™️ and flip to my 2025 Goals page. I like to go through each of my yearly goals and mark them as one of the following:

✔️ Complete – If the goal is fully done!
📆 Scheduled/In Progress – If it’s actively in the works.
Not Yet Started – If I still plan to do it, but haven’t started.
🚫 No Longer Pursuing – If the goal no longer aligns with my season.

Here’s a peek at a few of my 2025 goals and where they currently stand:

💡 Personal Well-Being:
✔️ Learn how to parallel park (FINALLY checked this one off!)
📆 Complete 3 Bible studies (I’ve finished 1 and just started my second)

💡 Relationships:
✔️ Decide how we are going to start Evvy’s education
📆 Visit Banff with Adam (scheduled for fall!)
📆 Go to a National Park with Adam and Evvy (happening this summer!)

💡 Vocation (Career & Business):
📆 Launch my online business course (SO close—launching April 22!)
📆 Post 1-2 YouTube videos a month (Book content is rolling, but I need to strategize how to add productivity videos!)
📆 Set up an aesthetic & functional podcasting space (Scheduled for June)

By doing this, I get a clear picture of where I’m making progress and where I might need to pivot.

Step 02: Reflect on The 5 Keys to Hustling Sanely™

Y’all know I’m all about living a peacefully productive life. To do so, I intentionally use The 5 Keys to Hustling Sanely™ to check in with myself each quarter to make sure I’m pursuing my goals while prioritizing my well-being and relationships. There are a handful of exercises in the Peacefully Productive Planner that walk you through working through each of The 5 Keys to Hustling Sanely (and I cover all of them in this week’s podcast episode) but I’ll share one of the exercises here!

Here’s the simple framework I use (key 2 edition):

✔️ What’s working well?
⚠️ What needs to change?
☁️ What are my intentions moving forward?

Now, here’s a glimpse at my check-in for a few life areas:

🧠 Personal Well-Being
✔️ Working well: Daily mental health hygiene practices
⚠️ Needs to change: Overstuffing my schedule
🎯 Intentions: Complete a Bible study, implement a “mind movie” exercise, and take a break from YouTube until after my course launch

💪 Physical Health
✔️ Working well: Shifting away from so many high-intensity workouts
⚠️ Needs to change: Mindless snacking
🎯 Intentions: Implement a new workout split, avoid pantry snacking

💰 Finances
✔️ Working well: Reviewing my weekly budget adherence
⚠️ Needs to change: Not doing a consistent big-picture budget review
🎯 Intentions: Start a Monthly Money Meeting with Adam to check progress on savings goals

This reflection process helps me stay mindful of how I’m balancing my goals with my overall well-being — so I don’t burn out trying to do it all.

Step 03: Set Your Q2 Focus Goals

Now that I’ve assessed my yearly goals and reflected on my season, I set one personal and one professional Focus Goal per month for the next quarter:

📆 April
💞 Personal: Be consistent with a Bible study and complete one by the end of the month
💻 Professional: Launch the Online Business Course

📆 May
💞 Personal: Leaving this open for margin (because balance!)
💻 Professional: Prep Q3 content for The Hustle Sanely BFF Membership

📆 June
💞 Personal: Set up my podcasting space (this is technically biz-related, but I’m tackling it on personal time!)
💻 Professional: Brainstorm YouTube strategy and create a filming schedule

Why Focus Goals?
Because narrowing it down to one main priority per month keeps me from feeling overwhelmed and helps me make actual progress instead of spinning my wheels!

Step 04: Map Out Important Dates & Events

Before wrapping up my check-in, I jot down any big personal or professional events for the quarter so I can keep them top of mind:

📅 April

📅 May

  • May 11: Mother’s Day

📅 June

  • June 15: Father’s Day

  • June 16: Granddad’s Birthday

  • June 29: Family Beach Trip

By getting everything down in my planner, I avoid last-minute stress and give myself a realistic view of my time.

Final Thoughts: Why Quarterly Check-Ins Set You Up for Success

One of the biggest takeaways from doing this every quarter? It keeps me from waiting until December to realize I need to make a change!

Checking in with my goals every three months allows me to:
✔️ Pivot when needed (without guilt)
✔️ Stay intentional with my time and energy
✔️ Actually enjoy the process instead of feeling like I’m playing catch-up all year

If you’ve never done a Quarterly Check-In Meeting before, I highly encourage you to carve out some time this week to try it!
