Believe it or not, perfectionism can manifest in your life in 3 different ways 🤯 Which is probably why it takes time and intentionality to overcome it when you are trying to pursue a dream on your heart.
I had the honor of interviewing an incredible counselor for women entrepreneurs for the podcast named Monica — let’s dig into what she shared about the different types of perfectionism.
Types of Perfectionism:
01. Self-Oriented Perfectionism
Looks like: setting unrealistically high standards for oneself; driven by goals and structure; often becomes highly critical of oneself and tends to ruminate over mistakes
02. Other-Oriented Perfectionism
Looks like: having unrealistic expectations for others; expecting others to anticipate their needs; tends to notice and ruminate over mistakes that others make; may frequently experience disappointment/anger because others aren’t living up to your expectations
03. Socially Prescribed Perfectionism
Looks like: believing others have abnormally high expectations of them
It’s important to know which one(s) you resonate with so you can target the behaviors and thought patterns that are making you feel like that’s how you need to behave.
