What To Do When You Don't Know What Your Dream Is
Let me ask you something:
Does it make you a little bit uneasy when you hear someone speaking so passionately about her dreams? Like you want to be excited for her but hearing her big bold ideas honestly just stresses you the heck out because it makes you feel a little bit frantic that you don’t have a dream of your own nailed down?
We hear so often to hustle, hustle, hustle to make our dreams happen but what about those of us who don’t know what we’re hustling after? Are we just supposed to run a hamster wheel-style marathon and hope that we eventually figure out where we’re heading?
Well girl, you are in the right place because today we are deep diving into 3 things that you can do right now to help you figure out what that dream of yours is (because you totally have one).
3 things to do to help you figure out your dream:
1. Pay attention to what people come to you for.
What are you the go-to girl for? The question I kept getting asked over and over when I was in grad school and working 2 jobs was “How do you balance it all?” I didn’t realize that organization and time management wasn’t everyone’s love language like it is for me, lol.
Once I put 2 and 2 together that, hey, I’m pretty skilled when it comes to time management and organization and people are asking me for help in this area it was such an epic lightbulb moment for me.
2. EXPLORE!
Not everyone knows from the age of 3 that they want to be a doctor. Or a lawyer. Or a nurse. I’m definitely not one of those people who has known what she wanted to pursue her whole life. Finding your passion is like a scavenger hunt it takes time and trial/error and one thing leading to another. You’ve gotta be okay with falling down because sometimes what you grab onto when you stand back up leads you right where you want to be heading and you would have never realized it if you hadn’t taken that step that caused you to fall in the first place, ya know?
3. Do the work to have a mindset shift.
When I stepped back, asked myself why I was doing what I was doing and recognized that I needed to ditch striving for serving, everything changed for me. When I started creating planners and programs that catered to what people were asking for help with things started aligning - I wasn’t stressing out about what to do because I was too busy meeting the needs of people (and FYI I had a really full heart because of it too).
I was spending an absurd amount of my time and energy desperately trying to figure out what it was that I was called to do. I was so focused on me, me, me that I was missing the whole point of where true clarity comes from: serving others using my gifts.

Obviously I think it is super important to be clear on your dreams so that you can pursue them with confidence but I want you to understand something really important. You are NOT defined by knowing what you want to do.
That means that even if you have absolutely ZERO idea what your dream is, you are not “doing it wrong.” You do not have to live in the mindset that your life will happen after your accomplish X or after you figure out Y. You are enough RIGHT NOW.
