Now let’s dive into it!

Part of The Hustle Sanely Planning System is having a Yearly Vision Meeting - I personally like to do this in November. The purpose of a Yearly Vision meeting is to reflect on the past year and intentionally create your vision and goals for the coming year.

There are 6 steps that I follow to guide my Yearly Vision Meeting each year:

01. Do a life audit by working through reflection and prep questions.
02. Write out the goals you want to work toward for the year.
03. Determine which month you are going to focus on each goal.
04. Determine which months are push seasons and which months you can lean into slowness.
05. Choose a word you want to live by for the year.
06. Create a vision board to support you as you work toward your goals.

We’re going to work our way through these 6 steps throughout the Best Year Ever series this month — today, we are zooming in on Reflecting on 2024 + Reframing Limiting Beliefs before we head into 2025!

Let’s start off talking a little bit about why it’s important to reflect on the past year before you start planning for the next one. I want you to imagine what happens if you try and build a house on an unstable foundation. f you are thinking, “It’ll come crumbling down eventually” ding ding ding, you’re correct!

Setting goals and planning for a new year without taking the time to reflect on the previous year first is like building a house on an unstable foundation. It’s important to reflect on what worked well and supported you in 2024 and what didn’t so you can plan accordingly in 2025!

So there are 3 exercises in your Peacefully Productive Planner that are meant to help you reflect on 2024 before you start planning for 2025:

01: 2024 Reflection

The page toward the beginning titled “Yearly Vision Meeting” has an exercise called “2024 Reflection”. The first part asks you to reflect on each life category by choosing which option represents how you currently feel about each area.

The 6 categories are:

Personal Well-Being:
mental/spiritual health, hobbies, self-care, etc.

💞 Relationships:
partner, family, friends, etc.

💪🏼 Physical Health:
exercise, sleep, nutrition, etc.

💰 Finances:

budgeting, saving, giving, etc.

☁️ Vocation:
career, education, life mission, etc.

📍Spaces:
house, office, vehicle, etc.

The 3 choices to choose from for each category are:

1: Major changes need to happen ASAP
~
To me this is saying RED LIGHT – if things continue how they currently are, this area of your life will not withstand it and will break sooner rather than later

2: Minor change needs to happen soon
~
To me this is saying YELLOW LIGHT – if things continue how they currently are, this area of your life could partially or completely break eventually

3: No change needed - things are going well
~
To me this is saying GREEN LIGHT – I’m really happy with this area of my life right now

After that, inside your planner is a section for you to write out your 2024 goals, circle whether or not you made progress on each one, and jot down a note about it if you need to. Notes you might add are why you didn’t accomplish the goal, if the goal changed based on your life circumstances last year, etc.

The next question asks you to write down anything you want to leave in 2024 that doesn’t align with your life vision anymore.
Think about habits, routines, thought patterns, jobs, etc. that didn’t feel supportive in 2024.

The last 2 questions in the 2024 reflection are:

- What did I learn about myself in 2024?
I’ll give you an example from my own life since I know we love concrete examples around here. Something I learned about myself in 2024 is that I need to externally process things or I bottle them up and explode in a very unhealthy way.

- What am I looking forward to most in 2025?
This one is pretty straightforward!

Now a little tip – something that helps me reflect in a way that equips me to zoom out and reflect on the entire year as a whole and not just the last 2-3 months (which is usually all I can remember in detail, lol)  is pulling out my journals from the year and skimming the monthly check-in and reflection pages in there. That jogs my memory of things that were supporting me, things that weren’t supporting me, and wins I celebrated throughout the year. Highly recommend this to help you with a more comprehensive yearly reflection.

Note: If have one of our undated quarterly planners, this exercise isn’t in there (it doesn’t make sense to put a yearly reflection in a quarterly planner, you feel me?) but I created a PDF version for my quarterly planner girlies to use to help them reflect on 2024. This is the only exercise throughout the BYE workshop that isn’t in the quarterly planners so we’ll all be together from here on out.

02: Key 1 — Get Your Mindset Right (Quarter 1)

The second exercise I want you to do as a part of your 2024 reflection and getting your mind right for 2025 is behind the Quarter 1 tab in your Peacefully Productive Planner – now we changed things up in the planner a bit this year which I’m so excited for – we have your quarterly check-in meetings built right in! So each quarter has a tab with exercises to check in with The 5 Keys to Hustling Sanely.

We’re going to spend some time working through some beliefs that might be holding you back so that you don’t carry them into 2025 with you.

Key 1 to Hustling Sanely is get your mindset right because your mindset is the foundation of everything you do. Your mindset is extremely powerful and the driving force for how you show up for your life.

Your mindset is your attitude. It’s how you think about yourself and your circumstances.
Your mindset affects the way you handle every situation.

People are sometimes surprised to hear me say that nurturing a healthy mindset is the best thing you can do to be more productive.

A healthy mindset is the foundation of a peacefully productive life.

Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions.
Your actions make up your life.

Limiting beliefs rob you of showing up and sharing your gifts with the world.
Limiting beliefs keep you from pursuing goals that you want to pursue.
Limiting beliefs hinder you from showing up fully for yourself and your family.
Limiting beliefs cause us to compare ourselves to others.
Limiting beliefs are causing you to procrastinate and make excuses.
Limiting beliefs create resentment in your life.
Limiting beliefs are holding you back from operating at your full potential to pursue your purpose and causing you to show up as a watered-down version of yourself.

You get to choose your mindset and it’s your responsibility to learn how to reframe your thoughts.

So the Get Your Mindset Right exercise in your planner is a chart with 3 columns:

The left column: Where you write the limiting belief
The middle column: What that belief is rooted in - where is this thought coming from/what triggers you to think it?
The right column: An affirming truth to help you reframe the thought

An example because we love those here:

Limiting Belief: My days will always feel hectic.

Rooted In: I often see other CEO moms on social media talk about how their lives are chaos and that’s “just the way it is” so I’ve taken that on as my truth without realizing it.

Affirming Truth: My life is full of things that matter to me and I get to decide how I show up for them. I have the authority to let things go/adjust my routines and schedule to best support me.

If you feel stuck here, in the Hustle Sanely Lifestyle course, we spend an entire module going over how to get your mindset right. I teach you the PIES (Pause, Identify, Evidence, Solution) method for reframing your thoughts. I walk you through how to create a mental health hygiene routine to nurture a healthy mindset. I never shut up about HSLC because it’s the only place where I comprehensively teach The Hustle Sanely Planning System and I truly think every single person would benefit from taking it!

Alright, next up:

03: Key 2 — Get Clear on Your Vision (Quarter 1)

The last exercise in your Peacefully Productive Planner that goes along with Reflecting on 2024 + Getting Your Mind Right for 2025 is also behind the quarter 1 tab – it’s the Key 2: Get Clear on Your Vision Exercise.

So when you did your Yearly Reflection, you zoomed out and assessed all of your life categories. For this, you’re going to zoom in on each one.

In your planner, for each category: personal well-being, relationships, physical health, finances, vocation, and spaces — you are going to write something that is working well, something that needs to change, and 1-3 intentions for this area for quarter 1.

For the intentions part, this can be habits you want to create/maintain or goals you want to work toward. This exercise is important because it’s going to help us when we talk about goal setting for 2025 next week!

Let’s do Finances as the example category. I might write:

Working well: Honoring my weekly free-spend budget

Needs to change: Not monitoring our finances as a whole strategically/treating weekly Quickbooks balancing as the strategy when it’s not really one

Intentions:
01: Create an updated budget based on our 2024 income
02: Have a monthly money meeting to look over money in versus money out consistently
03: Create a debt paydown plan

Okay so there you have it – reflecting on 2024 and getting your mind right for 2025!

Before I go, something you’re going to hear me say a lot over the next month:

NO ONE IS GRADING YOUR WORK.

Don’t be a perfectionist about these exercises – no one is looking in your planner but you. You’re the boss. You’re the leading lady of your life. You’re not doing anything wrong. Stop seeking perfection and get real with yourself so you can be intentional about how you plan and head into 2025! 🤍
