⋒ The routines that I follow every year, quarter, month, week, and day to help me Hustle sanely

How to hustle sanely all year long.png

I’m going to start from yearly and work my way down to daily. A little disclaimer - not every routine that I list here is perfectly executed all the time. I am a big believer and I teach y’all - our schedules and routines are tools, not chains so please keep that in mind. These are my routines on paper - sometimes life happens or sometimes I check in with myself and realize that I need something different on a certain day. Use this as a guide not as life or death, okay?

- YEARLY -

⋒ Yearly Vision Meeting
This one is for both life and biz - honestly, a lot of my routines benefit both my personal life and my business but I’ll let you know which ones do what as we move through this.

When: December
Purpose: ESTABLISH GOALS + VISION

I reflect on the past year and intentionally cast vision and establish my goals for the coming year.

Before the start of a new year, take some time to get clear on my vision for my life and establish goals that align with that vision so I can spend my best time and energy living the life I desire.

So I usually do 2 yearly vision meetings - one by myself to create personal and business goals and then one with my husband to create our family goals.

This is when I nail down my word for the following year, create my vision board, and decide what goals I want to work toward in the following year. Then I take it a step further and I schedule the goals by deciding which months I want to focus on what - I like to have a Focus Goal each month because it keeps me from feeling overwhelmed by trying to do 5 projects or goals at once, ya know?

Because we are action step people around here:
01. Journal through reflection questions.
02. Write out the goals you are working toward for the year, why they matter to you, and the first action step you're taking toward them.
03. Determine which month you are going to focus on each goal.
04. Determine which months are push seasons and which months you can lean into slowness.
05. Revisit your non-negotiables and see if there are any shifts that need to be made - like adding or removing any.
06. Choose a word that you want to live by for the year.
07. Create a vision board to support you as you work toward your goals for the year.

⋒ Product and course launches (biz)
Every year, usually in November or December, I map out when products and courses are going to be launching in my business and what months I’m working on each one. Having these dates mapped out ahead of time allows me to prep intentionally instead of feeling rushed to create, upload, and promote products. I use my big wall calendar system in my office, which I’m sure you’ve seen on Instagram, to do this. And I actually have an Instagram Reel where I walk you through this process in detail — you can watch that here.

- QUARTERLY -

⋒ Quarterly Check-In Meeting

When: The end of March, June, September, & December - little side note, I do combine my Yearly Vision meeting with the December quarterly check-in meeting.
Purpose: ASSESS GOALS – to reflect on + assess my goals/the methods I’m using to approach them and to intentionally prep for the next quarter.

At the start of each quarter, I check in and make sure your goals and the methods I’m using to work toward them still align with my vision. As our seasons change (expectedly and unexpectedly) sometimes we have to shift our goals, too. A big part of Hustling Sanely is working toward your goals without sacrificing your mental health and relationships so this quarterly check-in meeting is carved out time for me to really ask myself if I’m honoring my mental health and relationships or if I need to make some adjustments.

Action Steps:

01. Journal through reflection questions.
02. Schedule what goal you are focusing on each month of the quarter.
03. Make note of important events coming up this quarter.
04. Carve out time and energy to help others this quarter.

⋒ Content planning meeting (biz)

The last month of every quarter (March, June, September, December) I plan out my content for the following quarter because the thought of planning content more than 3 months in advance stresses me out, lol

The only content I map out in advance is episodes for the podcast and the monthly BFF membership topics. I’ve tried to plan out my email and Instagram content in advance but I can’t do it - does not work for me because I like to write captions and emails from the heart as I feel them.

- MONTHLY -

⋒ Monthly Check-In Meeting

When: Around the 1st of every month
Purpose: CREATE BROAD ACTION PLAN – to reflect on my goal progress, mental health, and relationships and to create a plan for your monthly focus goal.

At the start of each month, I set aside some time for my monthly check-in meeting so I can go into the month knowing where to spend my time and energy so I can make progress on my goals while protecting my mental health and relationships...are you sensing a pattern here? Lol

Action Steps:
01. Journal through reflection questions.
02. Write an affirmation to use as an anchor for the month.
03. Make note of important dates coming up for the month.
04. Write my focus goal for the month and my weekly action steps to work toward that goal.
05. Use a habit tracker to keep track of my non-negotiables and habits that support my goals.

⋒ Instagram planning (biz)

This is a super loose routine but I sit down at the beginning of each month and map out any Instagram content that I know I need to create - I usually record a reel that goes along which every podcast episode so I plan those out. I also plan out what the topic is going to be for the monthly IG Live hangout that we do. But like I mentioned earlier, I like to leave room to create on the fly when it comes to Instagram for the most part.

- WEEKLY -

⋒ Weekly Prep Meeting (life + biz)

When: Once a week on the day that works best for you (I like Fridays but Sundays are common)
Purpose: CREATE SPECIFIC ACTION PLAN – to intentionally prep for the coming week so you know where to spend your time and energy and what your Top 3 tasks are for the week. Each week, set aside some time for your weekly prep meeting so you can go into the next week knowing what your top priorities are to keep you on track for your goals.

Action Steps:

01. Journal through reflection questions.
02. Make note of any scheduled events: meetings, appointments, birthdays, etc.
03. Determine and schedule your Top 3 tasks for the week.
04. Determine and schedule how you are going to intentionally rest for the week.
05. Use your monthly habit tracker to plan how you’re going to show up for your non-negotiables and habits this week.

- DAILY -

⋒ Morning routine

PURPOSE: To position me to take ownership of my time and mindset and energize me for the day

I wake up at 5:30 every weekday morning and spend the first hour and a half of my day filling up my cup mentally and spiritually. My morning routine slightly varies day to day because I think it’s important to check in with yourself for a morning routine and see what you need but I always journal (which includes my gratitude practice) and pray. Other things I rotate between are reading, lettering, and stretching.

One thing I do every morning routine is no technology for the first hour of my day.

Hustle Sanely 5

PURPOSE: To help me work toward my goals without sacrificing my mental health and relationships every day

I hope you know what this is if you’re listening to the show but HS5 are the daily action steps that the Hustle Sanely community does every day to make sure we are working toward our goals without sacrificing our mental health and relationships. The tasks that make up HS5 that I do every day are:

  1. Completing my Focus 3 tasks for the day

  2. Moving my body for 30 minutes

  3. Tidying for 15 minutes

  4. Say or do one kind thing for yourself

  5. Say or do one kind thing for someone else

⋒ Lunchtime grounding and prayer

PURPOSE: To gather my thoughts and realign my headspace

For my mental health, I don’t work through my lunch break. As long as it’s not raining, I spend my time in the sunshine without technology for my midday lunch break. I eat my lunch outside while reading and then after I eat, I walk around my backyard barefoot (google earthing or grounding) and pray over my business. It’s something that I look forward to every single day!

Evening routine

PURPOSE: To wind down from the day and prepare yourself for a present and restful evening

My evening routine is super low key but it supports me for a restful night of sleep and equips me to be present with my husband. My one non-negotiable is I get off of technology by 8:30 PM and doing my skin care routine. Every night, I check in with myself to see what I need and what would support me and my loved ones. Some nights it’s playing cards with Adam, sometimes it’s taking a bath, sometimes it’s reading fiction.
